cannot favorite app on fedora 23

When I try to select "Add to favorites" for an app I installed on the gnome panel, I don't get the option. I tried the tricks that worked on F 22 (launcher must be named like the executable, the wm_class must match what xprop finds) but they did not work.

Are you talking about .desktop files that you manually generated?

For manually created .desktop files make sure they start like this:

#!/usr/bin/env xdg-open
[Desktop Entry]

I was talking about manually generated ones. That fixed it!
