Hey,

I installed GitKraken from gzip archive into /opt/GitKraken. I created a desktop enty in /usr/share/applications so I can start GitKraken from the gnome3 menu.

Now I want to also have a icon for gitkraken. I found an svg file. Can I somehow install it into all themes so that gnome recognizes the icons under all circumstances?

You can add your desktop file in you home under ~/.local/share/applications/ there you set the icon parameter in de file with icon name and place the icon file in ~/.local/share/icons/ folder.

That will setup your application and icon.

If you are sharing this application with other users you should be set the icon on

    /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/

For png icons or

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/

For .svg

check out https://developer.gnome.org/integrati...

For more information.
