I had that same issue yesterday while trying to do some localinstall's of an RPM. So; it's not just you. No real solution though, I ended up installing the RPM file using Nautilus and the next time I ran YUM I didn't get any repo-related errors.

I actually think the fedora mirror is down right now. download.fedoraproject.org throws a 503 error for me.

Since the question and answer have come up just in the last hour, this must be it. (I'd upvote if I could -- not enough rep.)

can't believe that. I just tried fedora 17 some weeks ago now, and stopped when the update servers went down... now I am trying with fedora 18 and the servers also went down.... maybe it's my fault... if so, sorry to all of you guys
