I'm running Fedora Workstation 24 x86-64 and using Chromium (52.0.2743.116) from the official project repositories and it doesn't find my Chromecast device. I'm using the same wireless network as other devices, and these can find and cast to the Chromecast without problems.

I'm still trying to troubleshoot this problem, but no luck so far. I already tried to disable Firewalld and SELinux, but the problem persists.

I had the same issue, for me the core of the problem was my firewalld configuration.

My home network is IPv6 enabled and I had to add firewall IPv4 and IPv6 exceptions on my machine to allow the chromecast to connect to my machine...

[~]$ sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-rich-rule='rule family="ipv6" source address="2001:4:112:cd:65a:753:0:a1/64" port port="1025-65535" protocol="udp" accept'
success
[~]$ sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-rich-rule='rule family="ipv6" source address="2001:4:112:cd:65a:753:0:a1/64" port port="1025-65535" protocol="tcp" accept'
success
[~]$ sudo firewall-cmd --reload

I read elsewhere that one can use the higher port range "32768-61000" but I just wanted to get it working quickly.

Is the "source address" part specific to your environment?
