The default file browser in XFce is Thunar. To access a network share using Thunar:

  1. Ensure that you have the gvfs-smb package is installed.
  2. Open Thunar (either from the panel or the command line.
  3. Click Go in the menu bar.
  4. Enter the location in the format you are familiar with (smb://IPADDRESS/PATH).

samba, like most other technologies does not depend on what distribution of linux you are using.

The difference may be that on Ubuntu, the gvfs-samba package (or equivalent) is installed by default, whereas on the Fedora Xfce spin, it is not? This is a counter-intuitive second step to get Samba networking enabled, and this question and answer helped me connect to my CIFS server.
