Hi everyone! I'm looking to update to F25, but I need the legacy Nvidia driver version 340.98. This version does not support xorg 1.19, only the newest driver does. Can I install xorg 1.18 on F25 and keep using it without it being automatically updated, at least until nvidia updates their driver?

The Nvidia driver 340.98 (September 26, 2016) should work with fc25 if you downgrade Xorg to the fc24 version according to https://www.if-not-true-then-false.co...

Fedora 25 Xorg 1.19 is supported only by nVidia 375.20 drivers, if you want to install example 340.xx or 304.xx then you have to downgrade Xorg to Fedora 24 version.

dnf --releasever=24 downgrade xorg-x11-server-Xorg --allowerasing

Then add following row to /etc/dnf/dnf.conf file:

exclude=xorg-x11*
