I’m trying to install a specific keyboard layout “qwerty-fr”
I used alien to install the deb package but the system doesn’t seems to recognize this layout in my my kde configuration list.
the keymap was installed in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/us_qwerty-fr
and I don’t really know how to make it appear in kde, in the list of acceptable choices.
I’m a bit lost.
localectl list-keymaps don’t show me the right keymap.
What keyboard is it? Depending on the keyboard, it may be possible to bypass the OS entirely and just use QMK.
Otherwise, I think you’ll want to check Plasma’s dbus documentation. The answer might lie somewhere in
Are you running Plasma with the Wayland or X11 backend?
Edit: try running this to cycle between different layouts:
/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.keyboard /Layouts org.kde.KeyboardLayouts.switchToNextLayout
It is a cheap 60% board keyboard that I’m willing to modify : Dierya DK61E
I wasn’t aware of this project I will take a look at after reading the documentation about keyboard support for this environnement.
