F35 - after last update when I select a text fedora 35 crashes

Hello,

on July 22nd I’ve installed the following o.s. update (on Fedora 35 and kernel: 5.18.11-100.fc35.x86_64) on ThinkPad P1 Gen 3.

Immediately after that, I started to have a big issue: randomly when I select or copy a text, the o.s. crashes (a black screen appears with in the top-left screen there is the cursor blinking but I can’t do anything, only the keyboard combination “ctrl+c” and then it appears the o.s. login). Can anyone help me to fix the issue?

This is what was installed by the o.s. update

Following the current kernel version:

Linux version 5.18.13-100.fc35.x86_64

Hi @atoxx ,

I also have this problem with both kernal versions as mentioned, 5.18.13 and 5.18.11.
It happens randomly when selecting, copy, pasting texts but maybe its caused by using keyboard shortcuts?

At the moment I booted back in 5.18.10-100 to see if it still happens.

@atoxx

Did not help. I downgraded all packages manually. So far it didnt happen again. I think it is in one of these:

Hi Martijn,
we are many people with this issue :S

It isn’t caused by a keyboard combination, because I get that issue also if I select with the mouse a text.

Are either of you running any gnome shell extensions?

Does the same occur with a new user?

Does anyone could help with this issue?

Hi @atoxx Seems to be a bug. Could you report a bug ? https://bugzilla.redhat.com/

Can you check and see if it’s, 2110041 – Display server crashing randomly after upgrade to 41.8.1-1

Thanks.

Hi @grumpey ,
This sounds like it is the problem. Stopped when I downgraded both packages.
The errors below align with the exact times my screen went blank.

This randomly happened directly after selecting text.

Hi @jpbn
at the end I had to upgrade to F36, I can’t work facing that issue.
