Fedora 34 beta

Why is all the talk about Fedora 34 beta the last few days.? I thought beta’s come out before the final version? What Fedora 34 have I been using for the last month? It is definatelyFedora 34, I verified it in the terminal. so which version am I running ifthe beta is just now coming out?

Your thinking is correct. Before the Beta came out, you were running an alpha pre-beta release. The final release will come in mid to late April.

Good question!
Have a look what hostnamectl says (terminal command)

I get:
Operating System: Fedora 34 (MATE-Compiz Prerelease)

while cat /etc/redhat-release gives
Fedora release 34 (Thirty Four)

I guess it is a environment variable who just get set when the version is final. I installed mine when it not was beta yet.

By the way … this time it might be named Fedora Linux 34 for the first time ?

Hi, I entered hostnamectl in Terminal and got this partial list:
Operating System: Fedora 34 (Workstation Edit…
CPE OS Name: cpe:/o:fedoraproject:fedora:34
Kernel: Linux 5.11.9-300.fc34.x86_64
So obviously I was running OS Fedora 34, but something other than the final release.
Live and learn…
