Fedora 35 freezes once I enabled the WIFI

Hello. I have tried almost every flavor if Fedora 35 (gnome, KDE, XFCE and cinnamon) and all have one thing in common. Once I enabled the WIFI the old system freezes. That’s happens when running live, during install or after install.

I tired whatever I know to fix it but without luck. So far I am using KDE neon right now, and I wish this issue will be resolved so I can finally start using Fedora.

Note: I will share whatever information is needed as long as it will fix my issue and I can start using fedora. If anyone can give me the command to list all the devices specs for the laptop.

Please take time to read #start-here

Please make in terminal rfkill and post the output as </> Preformatted text here.

In the meantime search for RTL8821CE to see if you find a other hint.

I did a quick search and it seams that some one in github have the drivers for WIFI

GitHub - tomaspinho/rtl8821ce

I am just wondering how can I test it and not screw the current setup. Is it possible to run this when running fedora live?

Can you please check if your Network-card is not hard blocked!

Is your system not screwed already ?

I will post for rfkill command

Just wondering if the drivers will be supported for an updated kernel?

Out of curiosity. Should it work if I used like a USB WIFI adapter? I will just need to disable the build in WIFI and use from the USB instead.

I can’t tell you because i don’t use this adapter. You have to try.

If you buy the right one yes. If you buy the wrong one you have to play with drivers too.

OK. I will try to install Fedora 35 and install the drivers after.

But as a backup plan if what mentioned above didn’t work. I will get a Linux supported USB WiFi dongle, regardless the built in WiFi is slow compared for buying from a good brand for cheap that can give twice the speed. (Build in WiFi 433 Mbps and WiFi dongle is about 867 Mbps).

I am just wondering How can I disable the build in WiFi and use the USB WiFi dongle by default? so I don’t enable the build in one and freezes the system.
