Is there any HDMI/USB 3.0 adapter that has working driver for Fedora?

Problem: my laptop has a single HDMI port. I would like to connect a second monitor into the laptop (dual-screen), but it’s initially not possible.

I thought I found out a solution, which is plugging a HDMI/USB 3.0 adapter. It would work as a mini graphic card, in order to provide a external HDMI port. See pictures here.

There are dozens of adapters, the bottleneck now is to find out an adapter which has Linux/Fedora driver support. Mostly of these freaking adapters are mostly Windows-only, and sometimes Mac, but seems never Linux/Fedora.

  • Is there any possible way to compile a driver somewhere to make it working on Fedora?

  • Any other solution?

  • Any other approach for having dual screen? Thanks.

I’m currently on Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming. https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/cty/pdp/spd/inspiron-15-7567-laptop

Please do not post on a thread that was obviously not solved and has no action for more than 4 years.

For this I suggest you open your own thread and provide some details about your hardware and OS if you need assistance
