KDE Spin, Dual Layer DVD, and K3B "WRITE@LBA=0h: Input/output error"

,

Hi Everyone.

I’m using Fedora 36 with the KDE spin and K3B. I’m testing a Dual Layer DVD reader/writer on a large ISO file. The file is a download of Windows 10 x64 21H2, and it is 5.5 GB. It is too large for a regular DVD.

Here is the DVD±RW device I am using: Amazon.com. Here is the DVD+R media I am using: Amazon.com.

K3B does a little work. Then K3B ejects the media and displays the error message, WRITE@LBA=0h: Input/output error. The full output is below.

I’ve done some reading on the error message, and I can’t tell what the problem is. There are about 20 years of discussions covering this error message. And folks are all over the place with “this worked for me” answers.

I think this may provide a clue from demsg:

[171027.111467] capability: warning: `growisofs' uses 32-bit capabilities (legacy support in use)
[171090.505671] usb 3-1.1.3: reset high-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd

What is the problem I am experiencing? How can I troubleshot it further to determine an exact reason for failure?

Thanks in advance.
