Lenovo P1 Gen2 Battery drain while suspended

Hello,

I have a P1 Gen2 and I notice that even while the machine is suspended it looses battery. During a night when it’s been suspended it can loose ~30% or more. It also remains warm to the touch so there’s definitely something using power.
I have Fedora 30 installed, with the latest kernel (5.2.9). I also updated the bios to the latest version (1.25).
How can I start analyzing this?
Thanks

Suspend to RAM is supposed to cost some battery charge at least to keep the RAM working.
Although I’d expect something like ~5-20% depending on time to sleep and battery health and it certainly shouldn’t be too warm unless it is charging.
Did you try any of the previous 5.1 kernels?

No, I’ll try with 5.1.latest I guess and report back.

I would also confirm that system stays suspended and doesn’t, for example, comes out of suspend 5 minutes after you’ve put it into sleep mode. You can look through system logs checking time period it should be sleeping.

As far as i know – sadly – sleep/hibernation support in Linux (not just Fedora) is not very good, and while it works ok on some hardware it doesn’t behave as expected on other machines.

Well, downgrading to 5.1.20 solved this problem. Thanks

Let’s consider it as a workaround until it is properly fixed in the kernel.
Meanwhile, you may want to report this regression to notify the developers.

I created an account and tried to report a bug but apparently I don’t have permissions to do it. When I submit it I get and access denied error code

Hello @guymarom
Are you talking about bugzilla?
You don’t need to create a new account, you could use your FAS account, that is the same user you use to log in here on Ask Fedora.
What error do you receive? Are you able to share a screenshot?
Thanks.

I tried attaching kernel logs like specified in the bug template. After removing the attachment it worked.
So the bug is opened but the logs aren’t there :frowning:

Can you try to attach logs to your already existiong bug? There’s an option there. Chances are slim, but worth a try.

Silly me, the file owner was root so I couldn’t upload. I uploaded it now
