Nvidia-smi and external monitor not working after upgrade to F31

Hi,

I am using the nvidia rpms from negativo17, and after upgrading to Fedora 31 I have the following problems:

  • the cursor blinks for a very long time (5 min?) before graphical mode is entered
  • nvidia-smi fails with “cannot communicate with driver”
  • external monitor is not detected at all

Would anyone have any ideas what is going wrong? Many thanks!

My nvidia-related packages are

nvidia-driver-cuda-435.21-2.fc31.x86_64
dkms-nvidia-435.21-1.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-driver-libs-435.21-2.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-driver-435.21-2.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-driver-NVML-435.21-2.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-modprobe-435.21-1.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-persistenced-435.21-1.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-settings-435.21-1.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-kmod-common-435.21-3.fc31.noarch
nvidia-driver-cuda-libs-435.21-2.fc31.x86_64
nvidia-libXNVCtrl-435.21-1.fc31.x86_64

sudo dkms install nvidia/434.21 solved the problem
