Problem with Ethernet connection Fedora 33 LXDE

No Ethernet connection at all.

First indication during boot from installation USB - ‘failed to start NetworkManager’ displayed

Same boot USB used to successfully install LXDE on another machine with different NIC. Several other machines on same network all OK. LAN switch, Cat 6 cables new and OK. DHCP obviously not working. Static IP configures OK but still no connection. Problem specific to LXDE on Realtek RTL8111 NIC. All other functions seem OK.

Is the failure of NetworkManager a symptom of r8169 problem or the cause? If so why does it not start? (it does on other machines)

Solution need for several host machines based on same config. Is it worth trying the Linux Mint fix?
