Steam doesn't display fonts on Fedora 35

-steam used to work properly for the few times I used it, but it now launches with fonts having been replaced with weird icons. I’m assuming the launcher can’t find fonts that it is supposed to use, but it did work the last time I used Steam… so what’s going on and how can I fix this?

Welcome to ask :fedora: @jokke please have a look at https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/welcome-to-ask-fedora-please-read-me-first/7 when you have a moment.

Have there been any changes made to the fonts you’re using?

If you start steam from the command line does it complain about anything?

Does it do the same thing if you run steam on a new user account?

You could reset the font-cache?
sudo fc-cache -r
if you have user installed fonts you may want to do fc-cache -r as well

You could also install liberation-fonts and see if that sorts it.

thanks
