Touchpad doesn't work anymore

Hi, I recently got a thinkpad x1 yoga gen 4.
The seems to work about half the time, It seems to be tied to starting up. At startup there is about a 50/50 change the touch pad will work for that session.

I have checked the mouse and touch pad settings. The touch pad is enabled.

Please help I hate using the little red dot.

Edit: I just booted into my windows partition and then back into fedora and that seemed to work, not sure if the two are related.

I figured it out.

I had disk encryption enabled. If I enter the decrypt password wrong the touch pad doesn’t work even if I get it right the second time or third time.

Turns out this is not the cause. I have no idea what’s going one but it sure if annoying. The trackpoint nipple seems to always work at least.

Hello everyone!

As told from a post title I have a touchpad functionality error. At random stages, my touchpad stops working at all, swiping on it simulates double-click only. Frequency of this problem is very dense. I’m extremely annoyed and only rebooting my laptop solves the issue.

This is a small log from journalctl -xe.

And this is a screenshot of problem report

These are my hardware details:

xinput showes me this:

⎑ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ 2.4G Wireless Optical Mouse id=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SYNA7DB5:00 06CB:7DB7 Touchpad id=17 [slave pointer (2)]
sudo modprobe hid_multitouch
sudo modprobe -r hid_multitouch

After running these commands my touchpad is like getting working, but speed of pointer is extremely slow and laggy.

again run xinput

⎑ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ 2.4G Wireless Optical Mouse id=16 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SYNA7DB5:00 06CB:7DB7 Mouse id=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SYNA7DB5:00 06CB:7DB7 Touchpad id=17 [slave pointer (2)]

Problem was on Fedora 30 also and I hoped if it would be fixed in 31st release. Maybe it’s kernel specific, I don’t know.

Will be glad if anyone can help.

Happened again…

I have this problem everyday (((

I noticed that the touch-pad issue occurs only when I’m connecting the charger to the laptop. How this can be related…

Currently I have 5.3.11-300.fc31.x86_64 kernel version.

Is there a way to restart the touchpad service with the command prompt? Usually the way I fix the touchpad is by restating the pc until it works.

This seems to have fixed it for now

Is this Gnome software screenshot? Cuz I can’t find it while searching for updates. What repo needs to be included? Or how to install this update?
