…an old(er) guy. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I worked doing FORTRAN programming and numerical simulations in VAX’s, then Sun’s with Solaris, a stint on a Cray X-MP (unix-like OS), and then Linux on PCs. I only dealt with the FORTRAN programming and OS enough to manage my workfiles and submitting jobs, no SysAdmin bits. Since 2000, I’ve been doing something else, and almost exclusively working in Windows. I am semi-retired now, and wanting to dive into Linux and leave Windows, though I currently dual-boot. I am hoping to get back into numerical simulations and FORTRAN programming, but also the other office related work (documents, project management, email, etc.) So I have a very patchy background, computer wise – not an expert at anything. There should be a way to send those that have helped me out here a beer.
